Alma Bryant High School is an Alabama high school located in Irvington, Alabama, United States on State Highway 188, midway between Grand Bay, Alabama and Bayou La Batre, Alabama. The school was formed in 1998 by combining Alba High School (Bayou La Batre) and Mobile County High School (Grand Bay). The school was named for Alma Bryant, an influential south Mobile County educator.[1] Rush Propst served as the initial football coach. School athletic teams are known as the Hurricanes, and the mascot is a pelican. The Hurricane archery team has been a top finisher in the AASP tournaments every year since 2005. In addition to archery Bryant High School has shown prowess in both boys and girls golf, baseball, cheer leading, Hi-Q, and scholars bowl.
